4:30 PM - It was a flattish week for the Indian market as the global crisis deepened with no clarity in sight. The world markets struggled to deal with the gravity of the financial crisis. It was a bad week for Dalal Street and the poor weekly figures are: Sensex was down 5.5%, Nifty down 5%. BSE Midcap index and BSE Smallcap index both down 3.5% over the week. BSE Realty index was down 14%, BSE Consumer Goods index down 9%, BSE Auto index down 8.5%, BSE Bankex down 7%, BSE Power index down 6%, BSE Oil & Gas index down 5.2%, BSE Metal index down 4.8% and BSE IT index down 2.5%.
4:26 PM - The Asian markets closed with a short covering rally while European markets were trading firm. The Indian market continued to perform badly with a volatile session towards close. Sensex shut shop at 9385, down 150 points and Nifty at 2810, down 38 points from the previous close. CNX Midcap index was down 2% and BSE Smallcap index was down 1.27%. The market breadth was negative with advances at 354 against declines of 898 on the NSE. Top Nifty gainers included Bharati Airtel, Tata Communications and Cairn while losers included ACC, Tata Motors and Unitech.

3:30 PM - Nifty has critical support at 2810, says E Mathew, technical analyst, on CNBC TV18. If Nifty closes below 2810 on a weekly basis then it will be one more nail in the coffin for the bulls, he says. Next week will be important and bulls will need to hold out 2810 and take it up to 3200 zone, he adds.
