4:00 PM - It was a choppy session today and poor global cues kept the market in the negative terrain throughout the day. Sensex ended the day at 8,937, down 353 points from the previous close. Nifty shut shop at 2683, down 116 points. BSE Midcap index lost 2.3% and BSE Smallcap index, 2.8%. Selling pressure was seen across the board, but metal, power, IT, banking and capital goods were beaten up the most. Biggest losers on the Sensex include Wipro, ACC, NTPC, Maruti Suzuki and JP Associates, while gainers were Ranbaxy and Reliance Industries.

1:35 PM - There is still weakness in the market, says Simi Bhaumik, technical analyst, on Zee Business. Nifty is trying to take support at 2665 and is facing resistance at Rs 2730-2760, she says. It is possible that the index breaks 2600 on the downside in coming days, she adds.
