4:01 PM - It was a terrible day for the Indian market that closed at the low point of the day on account of poor global cues. Sensex shut shop at 8773, down 163 points and Nifty at 2635, down 48 points from the previous close. CNX Midcap index was down 1.33% and BSE Smallcap index was down 1.84%. Capital goods, power and bankex stocks got a beating today. The market breadth was negative with advances at 308 against declines of 931 on the NSE. Top Nifty gainers included ITC, Ranbaxy and Cairn while losers included Suzlon, Tata Communications and Reliance Communications.
