Sensex closed today at 14349, up 74 points and Nifty at 4332, up 20 points from the previous close. The CNX Midcaps index closed up 0.74% and BSE Smallcaps index was up 1.98%. The market breadth was positive with advances at 862 against declines of 384 on the NSE. Nifty gainers included Tata Power, L&T and ACC while losers included ABB, Sterlite and Tata Communications.
3:56 PM - Nifty may touch 5000 in the next few months as the political scenario has stabilized, says Harish Sharma of Edelweiss, on CNBC TV18. Valuations seem to have bottomed out and the scenario now looks positive with the market currently witnessing consolidation, he adds. The results have been in line with expectations and the market will continue to see an up move in the months to come, he says.
